The author "tested the following null hypotheses: there were no differences in anesthetic induction times 1) among drugs stored in aluminum darts over time or 2) between compressed-air darts and explosive-charge darts." The experiments testing these hypotheses occured from October 2001-February 2002 in Wheatland, Wyoming, on the Sybille Wildlife Reseach Unit. Elk and pronghorn were the study animals. Kreeger concludes that the drugs lose effectiveness after three days of storage, possibly due to the drugs' increases in pH over time. The author also states that "observed differences in induction times cannot be attributed to dart type".
