This report discusses the sedimentary, seagrass, and benthic community dynamics in south Florida. Much of the information is specific to the Fowey site in Biscayne National Park, but some of the other information is about the middle and outer reef tract. All of the information is designed to assist the decision to stabilize the Fowey site. Topics include bottom sediment texture and dynamics, sediment texture below the surface, results of sediment monitoring studies at the H.M.S. Fowey, results of sediment redistribution studies from Hurricane Andrew, benthic community structure and stability, seagrass dynamics, seagrass cover, seagrass recolonization, bioturbation in Biscayne Bay and on the reef tract, excavation and infilling processes, sediment turnover rates from deep burrowing organisms, mixing rates, distribution of excavating crustaceans, natural coarse sediment lags at the surface, and use of coarse material to stabilize surface. Tables and graphs present the data.
