Proposal for research on the natural diatom communities in four streams in the park. to assess the "health" of the streams chemical, physicla, and biological data will be employed. Diatoms, beside being an important element in the aquatic food chain, are indicators of water quality. Diatoms were collected from relatively undisturbed streams and others, to construct a baseline for further studies, especially in view of possible change.
