Vertical distribution of liverworts within the forest canopy in the southern Appalachians : contribution to the All Taxa Biodiversity Inventory of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park

Bark samples from 110 phorophytes in the Great Smoky mountains national park yielded 21 species of epiphytic liverworts higher than 3.5 meters above ground. Species richness of liverworts declined with height above ground.
