An overview of the state of the marine resources in Western Samoa as of 1988. A major concern is the decline of the fish population. Enforcement of preventing destructive fishing methods needs to be implemented. In addition, statistics on village fish landings and subsistence fisheries should to be documented as a method for identifying possible site for marine reserves.
