This study examines and compares matrix-recovered fossil fragments from a known Wahweap locality and an uncertain upper Cretaceous locality (Wahweap or Kaiparowits), in an effort to resolve the stratigraphy of the latter. From the Wahweap locality, teeth of sharks, rays, crocodiles, fish, and mammals have been recovered, plus jaw fragments of lizards, salamanders, and frogs. From the upper Cretaceous locality, tooth and bone fragments of hadrosaurs, and fish, jaw fragments of lizards and salamanders, teeth of mammals and crocodiles, gastropods, ostracods, and fragments of turtle shell have been recovered. The presence of a salamander jaw of genus Habrosaurus in the upper Cretaceous rocks suggests correlation with Kaiparowits formation.
