A number of the hanging gardens in the area of Alcove Canyon along the San Juan Arm were investigated, and the report includes both an overall species list and lists for each of 13 gardens. The vegetation structure of the gardens was examined, and there was a particular attempt to locate populations of the endangered sedge Carex specuicola and the rare sawgrass Cladium californicum.
