From the Introduction: "The overall purpose of the National Park Service (NPS) Gaseous Pollutant Monitoring Program (GPMP) is to monitor the status and trends of ambient air quality conditions in national park units. This purpose is outlined by the Clean Air Act of 1963 ... and the Organic Act of 1916, which assign the federal land managers the responsibility of protecting the natural resources in the national parks." Olympic National Park is one of the monitoring sites.
