Bioassessment of Fish Communities of the Upper Delaware River

Scientists with the U.S. Geological Survey, Leetown Science Center, Northern Appalachian Research Laboratory, sampled fish assemblages and assembled water quality and land use data for eight locations and three habitat types of the Delaware River. They applied an index of biotic integrity developed for northern mid-Atlantic slope drainages and tested the index scores against measures of water quality and cultural pollution. Sampling sites were located below the mouths of the following tributaries: Callicoon Creek; Ten Mile River; Sawkill Creek; Adams Creek; Toms Creek; Bushkill Creek; VanCampens Brook; Brodhead Creek.
