Fisheries catch statistics for American Samoa, 1990

Aitaoto F, Ponwith B, Craig P. 1991. Fisheries catch statistics for American Samoa, 1990. Department of Marine and Wildlife Resources report series no. 21. Department of Marine and Wildlife Resources. Pago Pago, American Samoa

In 1990, approximately 113,900 pounds of offshore fish (including both bottomfish and pelagic species) were landed by the domestic fleet of 39 part-time vessels. Decreasing trends in fishing effort, annual catch, and revenue were due primarily to fleet damage that occurred after two hurricanes struck American Samoa in 1987 and 1990.
