Static fishing around fish aggregation devices (FADs) and offshore banks in American Samoa
Crook M. 1987. Static fishing around fish aggregation devices (FADs) and offshore banks in American Samoa. South Pacific Commission Fisheries Newsletter. 42(July-September):27-32
Results of fishing around fish aggregating devices (FADs) conducted in American Samoa between December 1984 to April 1985 using the Hawaiian "palu ahi" technique. Author concludes that as of 1985 in American Samoa "palu ahi" fishing around the FADs is a useful but limited alternative to trolling, and one which can also enhance bottomfish catches while anchored on offshore banks.
