Bibliography for Hayes, Spurr, Crater Peak, Redoubt, Iliamna, Augustine, Douglas, and Aniakchak Volcanoes, Alaska

Lemke KJ, May BA, Vanderpool AM. 1995. Bibliography for Hayes, Spurr, Crater Peak, Redoubt, Iliamna, Augustine, Douglas, and Aniakchak Volcanoes, Alaska. U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Open-File Report. OF 95-435. US Geological Survey. Anchorage, AK

Alaska has more than 40 active volcanoes, many of which are close to the major population centers of south-central Alaska. To better understand these volcanoes, the Alaska Volcanoe Observatory was established in 1988 to monitor volcanoes, assess volcanic hazards, issue eruption notifications, and conduct volcano research in Alaska. This bibliography was compiled to assist in the preparation of volcano hazard evaluations at Cook Inlet volcanoes. It lists articles, reports, and maps about the geology and hydrology of Hayes, Spurr, Redoubt, Iliamna, Augustine, and Douglas volcanoes in the Cook Inlet region (fig.1) as well as Aniakchak Volcano on the Alaska Peninsula (fig. 2). References on the biology and archaeology of areas surrounding each volcano as are included because they may provide useful background information.
