A single specimen of the sleeper shark, Somniosus pacificus Bigelow and Schroeder, was taken on June 3, 1958, in Kachemak Bay, Cook Inlet, Alaska. It was shot after being trapped in a small pot hole off Ismailof Island where the surrounding area was exposed on a minus tide.
