Heavy metal analysis of water sources at George Washington Carver National Monument
Trachy M. 1983. Heavy metal analysis of water sources at George Washington Carver National Monument
This report documents a study conducted to determine the levels of heavy metal concentration in various water sources at five sites within George Washington Carver National Monument. The sites include Carver entrance, Carver exit, Harkins, Pond, and from the tap. A discussion on methods using atomic absorption spectroscopy as instrumentation in determining concentration of metals is included. Methods used in the study include sample concentration, chelation of metals, compound extraction, and evaporation. Conclusions based on the study findings are included. Table data identifies the heavy metals (lead, cadmium and zinc) found at the sample sites.
