Beginning in 1999 and ending in 2004, an inventory was conducted of selected exotic plant species in Grand Teton National Park and the John D. Rockefeller Jr. Memorial Parkway. The purpose of the inventory is to establish the location of most infestations and create distribution maps of noxious species, as well as some exotics not classified as noxious. The inventory targeted right-of-way and developed zones of the Park, including roads, campgrounds, domiciles, grazing lands and river corridors because these areas are important vectors of movement for exotic plants. The degree of weed infestation in many of the less accessible areas of the Park is not known. The potential for seed transport by wildlife from areas of known infestation to the backcountry is very high.
