This annotated checklist is based on ca. 4,000 bird records maintained in an Access database in the Division of Resource Management, Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, as well as numerous studies, most recently an inventory program from 1998-2000 funded by the NPS Inventory & Monitoring Program, WASO. In addition to the many observers that have filled out wildlife observation cards going back to 1962, additional data from the original survey reports was also included (see Historical Review). The checklist follows the American Ornithologist’s Union format, 7th Edition (AOU 1998).
