An aerial survey of the Hat Creek Ranger District was done in order to determine the extent of damage done by the Jeffrey pine beetle (Dendroctonus jeffreyi). On Lassen National Forest lands, it was determined that their numbers were few and declining. On north border of Lassen Volcanic National Park, however, heavy infestation of the beetle were found, especially at the Volcanic Sale and the Raker Sale. Recommendations were made for the Volcanic Sale and Raker Sale in order to control the infestation.
