1) Identify, record, and evaluate point and non-point pollution source. 2) Determine if the present state and FDA 'Conditionally Approved' classification is appropriate, based on all available water quality and bacteriological data. Shellfish-borne pathogenic fecal coliform bacteria in Crassostrea virginica (eastern oyster), and in Mercenaria spp. (quahog). Samples were collected at 30 different stations. Field data included water depth, wind direction, wind velocity, temperature, dissolved oxygen (DO), and salinity. Salinity was measured with a Beckman RS5-2 meter, and dissolved oxygen was measured with a Y.S.I. digital meter at the time of sampling. The study of the fecal coliform bacteria was done with a %-tube #-dilution test and a 12-tube single dilution test.
