Sutton RK. 2005. Hedgerow Management Plan: Homestead National Monument of America
The Hedgerow Management Plan report is based in Homestead National Monument on osage-orange, otherwise known as hedgeapples, and a project was conducted on this flora. The hedgerow management project follows from the analysis and recommendations of the 2000 Cultural Landscape Report by Land and Community Associates. The report recommended: 1) elimination of the invasion of the hedge by eastern redcedar and shrubs 2) rehahbilitation of historic Osage -orange hedgerow through selective removal of existing trees and the planting of new trees along the length of the south HNMA boundary 3) maintenance and replenishment of the Osage-orange hedge; plan[ing] for its over maturity and associated vegetative losses through propagating, grafting and/ or replanting.
