"The intent of this study is to document the effects of fire in a mixed grass and shrub ohia woodland, in an effort to provide information relevant to control and suppression of future fires within this ecosystem." Describes species composition in an area prior to and following a controlled burn. Reports that after six months exotic species predominated. After one year Andropogon covered a greater area than prior to the fire. After 18 months some endemic species had reestablished themselves in the area. Includes vegetation map for Andropogon in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Figures give cover values for endemic and exotic species before and after the fire. Table gives percent cover by species before and after the fire, set 5 May 1976.
