In 1993 the Arizona Game and Fish Department initiated a study to collect a sample of eggshells from Arizona peregrine falcon eyries. This sample was used to determine current average eggshell thickness and compared to two other samples: the accepted pre-DDT thickness for a California sample and the average thinning reported in another Arizona sample.
