Survey of coastal areas of Washington to determine the population and distribution of the reintroduced sea otter (Enhydra lutris). There was a population increase of about 10% from 2004 with 814 sea otters counted. Many pups were observed this year as well. It is believed that Washington's sea otter population is approaching equilibrium density north of La Push whereas populations are still increasing at higher rates elsewhere.
