The goal of this inventory was to sample vascular plant species diversity at frequent intervals over the 139 mi2 (89,000 acre) Preserve. This included collecting vouchers of all vascular plants in flower or fruit at each site, recording habitat data, and obtaining locality information, including GPS readings. The plants were then placed in an ice chest with ice until they could be pressed and dried, usually within 12 to 20 hours. The identification of specimens was done at RM which has superb holdings from throughout the Rockies and the West and an excellent library. The plant specimen database is complete. It is in Microsoft Access and in a format compatible with Arc/GIS. Plant specimen labels were generated from this database. The complete set of original specimens, totalling 5,182, is at RM/USFS and form the core collection for use in research.
