Documentation of 17 elk pellet plot transects established in conjunction with the elk exclosure monitoring study on Bandelier N. M. (BAND) 1999-2003 is presented. Pellet-group data counted by BAND personnel on 19 vegetation transects on elk exclosure reference areas during 2000 is also summarized and compared to transect data from this study. Location of and number of pellet groups recorded on each transect is presented. Inferences from pellet group counts about the relative abundance of elk and estimated elk-use days are presented.
