A progress report on fish surveys conducted in the subtidal waters of Redwood National and State Parks by researchers associated with the Department of Fisheries Biology at Humboldt State University. Two day sampling trips occurred in June, July, and September 2005. There were 5 sampling sites, illustrated in a map on figure 1. Detailed methods of survey are described in this report. All fishes sampled were identified, measured, and released. Temperature and salinity were measured. A total of 34 fish species representing 16 families were collected to date. Future sampling trips using the same methods are scheduled for January, February, March, and May of 2006. This effort is predicted to expand the species inventory and allow for seasonal comparisons.
