One of several projects that Larry R. Commissaris carried on during his stay at Chiricahua Mountains was the recording of the time of capture of bats taken in mist nets over water holes in the general region, togeather with pertinent enviromental conditions such as, temperature, humidity, precipitation, wind, cloud cover and moonlight. Eighteen species of bats have been recorded from the Chiricahua Mountain area (Cockrum and Ordway, Amer.Mus. Nov., 1959). During the summer of 1958 Commissaris captured 16 of these. In the area studied by Commissaris, Antrozous pallidus,Plecotus townsendii and Plecotus phyllotis reach the first peak of their activity long after Antrozous, we suspct that the reason for the later period of activity is the result of distance from day roosts, for in other locations known to be near day roosts, the peak of activity is reached much sooner after sundown.
