Four areas exhibiting typical lower Sonoran desert vegetation were intnesively studied in ORPI, arizona, during June and July of 1948 and from February through August 1949. Of these, two represented wash situations and two were located in the intermountain plains Censusing of the breeding birds was done by strip, plot, and nest counting methods and territorial maps were determined for each species.
