Over the past 50 years, attempts have been made to protect and improve fishing resources in Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The first section of this paper reviews the research and management efforts of the past. The second part presents a statistically valid program for monitoring sport fishing in the park involving an electroshocking schedule.
