The Biosphere Reserve and its Relationship to Other Protected Areas

Eidsvik HK. 1979. The Biosphere Reserve and its Relationship to Other Protected Areas. MAB (Man and the Biosphere)

The attempt to set up a world-wide network of biosphere reserves is a new and important initiative in our efforts to provide an assured future for mankind. The emphasis of the programme is on the relation between man and nature. To be successful it must preserve areas of undisturbed nature as genetic reservoirs and as standards against which change outside can be measured and judged.
