For the purposes of this work, including this report, I have divided the Boulder Brook drainage into a series of zones with distinctly different characteristics. The Dove - the massive ice reach at the head of the drainage below the North Face of Longs Peak. The Boulder Field - the portion of the debris complex from the base of The Dove down to the major slope break or lip at about 12,300'. The Face - the steeper part of the planar face from about 12,300' down to about 11,000'. The Krumholz - a zone of knee-to-waist high krumholz between about 11,000' and 10,800'. The Spring Band - a zone characterized by tigertrap tussocks and spring from about 10,800' to somewhat below 10,600'. The Nose - a flatter and drier area below the Spring Band. These zones are shown in Figure 1 together with sampling locations and analytical results for tritium.
