High-elevation ecosystems in Rocky Mountain National Park have been changed by the effects of nitrogen deposition. High-elevation ecosystems at Rocky Mountain National Park are more vulnerable to atmospheric nitrogen deposition than many ecosystems in the eastern U.S. or in other countries. Decreases in nitrogen deposition in Rocky Mountain National Park could reduce the extent and amount of unnatural ecosystem change that park ecosystems are experiencing. The National Park Service and the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment are working together to determine options for addressing ecosystem impacts to Rocky Mountain National Park.
