From the Introduction: "This annual report summarizes Redwood National and State Parks' Fish and Wildlife Branch biological and physical monitoring activities in the Redwood Creek estuary for calendar year 2005. Monitoring has occurred in the Redwood Creek estuary since 1980. The purpose of the estuary monitoring is to determine fish population numbers and growth; record estuary water quality and water elevations; determine cross section changes; and document breaching incidents. This report serves as the annual report for the Division of Resource Management and Science." Sections of the report include Location, Methods, Water Quality Monitoring, Tide and Stream Flow Data, Estuary Water Levels, Estuary Cross Sections, Sand Berm Elevation Monitoring, Other Activities, 2005 Results, Summary, and References. The results indicate the fish species present (4 salmonid species, 13 other species), population estimates, and growth estimates. Includes tabular and graphical data, cross section locations, and colored photographs of the study (including study area, personnel, and fish). A table lists all salmonid and non-salmonid fish seined, birds, amphibians, reptiles, mammals, invertebrates, and others observed at and adjacent to the Redwood Creek estuary. Fish monitoring results included four new fish species observations (American Shad, Bay Pipefish, Penpoint Gunnel, and Walleye Surfperch) for the Redwood Creek estuary, and a second occurrence of Pacific Herring. Estimated juvenile chinook and steelhead populations in the estuary were initally low in June, and decreased throughout the summer. No tidewater gobies were observed.
