Jamaica Bay combined sewer overflow facility planning project: subtask 4.1 - future conditions
Author unknown. 1990. Jamaica Bay combined sewer overflow facility planning project: subtask 4.1 - future conditions. O'Brien & Gere Engineers Inc.. New York, NY
The change in wastwater flows for the period 1990 to 2020 for the Coney Island, Jamaica and 26th Ward water pollution control plants is not siginficant. The Rockaway WPCP will undergo an increase in flow because future development planned in the Rockaway drainage area is significant, although the projected flow is still within the plant's design flow capacity. Several efforts under way to reduce extraneous sewer flows were not factored into estimated future flows. It may also be the case that infiltration will increase in Brooklyn and Queens because of rising groundwater levels that result from the discontinuation of pumping the aquifer for potable water.
