Freshwater research and monitoring in Southwest Alaska: Biblography of research
O'Keefe TC and US National Park Service, Southwest Alaska Network. 2005. Freshwater research and monitoring in Southwest Alaska: Biblography of research. Anchorage, AK
This bibliography is divided into two sections. The first section is organized by research project or organization and describes the overall research program as it relates to regional freshwater resources and includes key references. The second section is a list of references, with abstracts where available, from the peer-reviewed literature, agency research reports, and student theses, that covers current (1990-2004) freshwater research in the region. A combination of internet-based searches and professional contacts were used to generate the list of ongoing research projects within the Bristol Bay and Cook Inlet Regions including academic institutions with a presence in the region (primarily University of Alaska and University of Washington) and agencies with an ongoing management interest in freshwater resources of the region (National Park Service, Alaska Department of Fish and Game, US Fish and Wildlife Service, US Geological Survey, and native tribal groups). Internet-based searches were initiated using research databases that included Proquest, Web of Science (Thomson Corporation), and GeoRef (Ovid Technologies). We also searched the published reports on websites maintained by the National Park Service, Alaska Department of Fish and Game, US Fish and Wildlife Service, US Geological Survey, University of Alaska at Fairbanks, and University of Washington School of Aquatic and Fishery Sciences. This initial search generated several published papers and reports that were then reviewed for relevance to the freshwater systems in Southwest Alaska. Reference lists in each of these papers or reports were reviewed to identify additional published resources that were then incorporated into the bibliography. While the goal was to be comprehensive, a priority was placed on references that contained data on regional freshwater resources.
