The first part of the article deals with the incongruities found in the various interpretations of the term "endangered species." The second part of the article provides brief case histories of some of the endangered plant species in Everglades National Park, FL. Species included in the case histories are the Okeechobe gourd (Cucurbita okeechobeensis), Carter's flax (Linum carteri), Florida gama grass (Tripsacum floridanum), yellow catopsis (Catopsis beteroniana) and the royal palm (Roystonea elata).
