Agassiz details a thorough natural history of the waters of the Florida reef tract and Florida Bay, stretching from Soldier Key, FL to the Dry Tortugas, FL to Cape Sable, FL. He includes geological descriptions of the islands of the Florida Keys and popular maritime navigation routes. Coral reefs, a major maritime navigation hazard, are described with regards to species and geology. Illustrated plates accompany this report, but are not included in this copy.
