The thousands of Kentucky caves harbor no less then 95 species and subspecies of cave beetles belonging to 5 genera. This report discusses 19 species all belonging to Pseudanophthalmus. After a general discussion of cave beetle life history and population distribution and identification, there is a more specific discussion of 19 species of cave beetle and of one cave isopod. A recommended protection/recovery plan is included for each species where appropriate.
