Kobuk Sand Dunes rare plant survey

The main objective for this research was to collect more ecological information, location, and habitat information on a soecial status plant species found on the Great Kobuk Sand Dunes. Since its discovery in 1994, the National Park Service has conducted a Rare Plant Survey on the Aster Yukonensis chonrquist (Yukon Aster) population located on the Great Kobuk Sand Dunes (GKSD). Data was collected during 1994, 95, and 96. A report was completed in 1997 that includes an introduction to the geological history of the GKDS, and historical status of the Yukon Aster, a botanical description of the Yukon Aster, range and habitat descriptions of the Yukon Aster, survey methods, a summary of the data gathered, data tables, location maps, a discussion and recommendations for future studies.
