Population size and morphometrics were established for a Sonoran mud turtle (Kinosternon sonoriense) population at Montezuma Well, Camp Verde, Arizona. Population size was established using mark-recapture models and morphometrics were quantified by analysis of body size measurements. This provides critical baseline data that is required for future population monitoring projects, such as comprehensive lon-term observation and ecological assessment of the park and surrounding regions. This will aid in the determination of adverse effects caused by pressures related to human population growth, recreation, and the introduction of exotic species. It will also help park managers to preserve the biodiversity of Montezuma Well by protecting and manageing the long-term viability of its endemic species.
