The work described in this report was conducted through the Engineering Experiment Station at the University of Arizona for the National Park Service. The report presents the results of the studies conducted for this project, with conclusions and recommendations based on these studies. Part I, by J. D. Kriegh, describes the work done, the results, conclusions, and recommendations pertinent to the structural restoration studies. Part II, by H. A. Sultan, describes the work done, results, conclusions, and recommendations pertinent to the preservation studies. Part III includes general recommendations for further field studies to be conducted at the two sites in order to evaluate the monitor the performance of the recommended methods of treatments. It is jointly authored by Kriegh and Sultan.
