Soil Survey, A Special Report: Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument, Pima County, Arizona
USDA Soil Conservation Service. 1972. Soil Survey, A Special Report: Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument, Pima County, Arizona. M7-L-22776. USDA, SCS. Portland, OR
Soil scientists made this survey to learn what kinds of soils are in the ORPI, where they are located, what plants grow on them and how they can be used. As the soil scientists traveled over the country they observed the steepness, length, and shape of slopes, size and gradient of drainages, kinds of native plants, kinds of rocks and many facts about the soils. They dug many holes to expose soil profiles.
