The Statistical Efficiency of Sample Plot Size and Shape in Forest Ecology
Bormann FH. 1953. The Statistical Efficiency of Sample Plot Size and Shape in Forest Ecology. Ecology. 34(3):474-487
The object of this project has been to use a modification of Clapham's method to determine the most effective size and shape of plot for sampling trees > 1 inch d.b.h. in a climax oak-hickory forest. Clapham (1932) used statistical variance to make this determination on herbaceous vegetation.
