During the field seasons of 1932 and a933, the writer made a study of the mammals of the Chiricahua Mountains of southeastern Arizona. Much of the second period, from June 21 to August 24, was devoted to censusing the smaller mammals with the objects of: (1) Determining the population of various species in the major habitats, and (2) evolving a method that would be useful elsewhere under similar conditions. Considerable ecological data were gathered as a basis for possible conclusions.
