Standard Dansereau diagrams were constructed to illustrate the vegetation of part of southeast Queensland, Australia. Some problems were encountered in illustrating herbaceous lianas, in assessing seasonality and in estimating coverage in specific instances. Although discriminating between major vegetation types the standard diagrams did not differentiate well between the various eucalypt communities. The modifications suggested in Dansereau, Buell and Dagon (1966) only partially alleviate the problem. Further modification to include leaf angle and bark characteristics would be appropriate.
