An Improved Type of Precision Dendrometer

Daubenmire RF. 1945. An Improved Type of Precision Dendrometer. Ecology. 26(1):97-98

The apparatus described below enables an investigator to make studies of the seasonal course of changes in radii of a great number of trees simultaneously, with considerable accuracy, and at very little expense for equipment (normally less than $20.00). Only one instrument, the Reineke dendrometer (Reineke, '32), has been described previously which has similar use and advantages. The latter type of apparatus has been given a thorough trial by the writer, and although it has been proven fairly satisfactory one important disadvantage was encountered. This is believed to have been corrected in the new apparatus to be described.
