X-Ray Photography: A Technique to Determine Reproductive Patterns of Freshwater Turtles
Gibbons JW and Greene JL. 1979. X-Ray Photography: A Technique to Determine Reproductive Patterns of Freshwater Turtles. Herpetologica. 35(1):86-89
X-ray photography permits nondestructive measurement of clutch size in gravid freshwater turtles. A primary advantage of this method over dissection is that intraindividual variation in size of subsequent clutches can be determined. The technique should be applicable to any species of egg-laying amniotic vertebrate.
