Included here is a compilation of words, terms and phrases that are frequently encountered in descriptions and analyses of alpine regions, particularly those in North America. This is a preliminary list that will need continual updating. It is hoped that others will find a use for this glossary, either in reading alpine literature, or in conducting field studies. We would appreciate additions and corrections brought to our attention.
