From Author Introduction: The Florida Bay and Adjoining Waters Program Management Committee (PM C) was established in 19_ to identify research and monitoring needs and coordinate scientific programs aimed at developing the knowledge to guide resource management and ecosystem restoration decisions. The PMC has developed a Strategic Science Plan for Florida Bay, and through a system of topical research teams, expert review, and scientific oversight panels helps to. guide funding and coordinate implementation of key research and monitoring tasks. The development of regional ecosystem restoration and water management plans, such as the Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan (CERP) and Lower East Coast Water Supply Plan, rely on development of science-based hydrologic and ecological targets and performance measures to define restoration goals and evaluate effectiveness of restoration projects.
