From the Abstract: "Concentrations of arsenic (As) and lead (Pb) were determined in 221 samples of hair of mountain goats (Oreamnos americanus) from 6 sites in Mount Rainier National Park, 7 sites in Olympic National Park, and two sites representing North Cascades National Park. Concentrations of As and Pb in mountain goat hair differed significantly between parks. Mean concentrations of As from North Cascades National Park (0.38 ppm) and Olympic National Park (0.35 ppm) were significantly greater than those at Mount Rainier National Park (0.17 ppm). Mean Pb concentrations at North Cascades National Park (1.63 ppm) were significantly greater than Pb concentrations at either Olympic National Park (0.97 ppm) or Mount Rainier National Park (0.88 ppm). Concentrations of As and Pb were related to estimated annual rainfall and distance and direction from the site of a copper smelter in Tacoma, Washington.
