A Point Method for Making Rapid Surveys of Woodlands

This method offers a simple and rapid method for making surveys of the tree species of a woods. It consists of measuring the distance between sample trees, obtaining an average distance, and converting this figure into trees per acre. Species and circumferences are recorded at the time the distance is measured, and from these data it is possible to obtain frequency,density, and dominance values.
